PPTA’s intentions to extend industrial action.
May 30, 2019

Kia ora te whanau,

Thank you for your cooperation in making alternative arrangements for the care of your young people on 29th May,

We have now received formal notification of the PPTA’s intentions to extend industrial action to include rostering home of different secondary school year levels every Tuesday for the next four weeks ~ beginning with Year 9 on Tuesday 4th June. This means no Year 9 students across the country will be taught by PPTA members next Tuesday.

Tuesday 4 June - Year 9

PPTA strike action on Tuesday 4th June will affect Year 9 students across the country. The college cannot provide teachers for Year 9 classes therefore parents are requested to make alternative arrangements for this day for Year 9 students. Thank you.

Tuesday 11 June - Year 10
Tuesday 25 June - Year 11
Tuesday 2 July - Year 12

In addition the advice from PPTA includes notice of rolling strikes for whole regions at different times over the next three weeks.

A Wellington region strike is proposed for Friday 21st June.

We recognise the difficulty such actions pose for everybody and very much hope there will be sufficient movement towards a settlement to make these actions unnecessary for the PPTA.

In the meantime we will use the time available to continue to support the learning of all students and their progress towards qualifications.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns.
