The pink Shirt Day movement started in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying after a new student was harassed and threatened for wearing pink.
Wearing the pink t-shirt (or hair-tie/sticker/socks etc.) on Friday 16 October and beyond is just one way to show you are committed to creating a kinder, more inclusive Aotearoa where everyone feels safe, valued and respected. This day will be a gold coin donation that goes to the mental health foundation. We will hold fun activities on the day.
